ERASMUS EXCHANGE AMIENS – ALMUÑÉCAR (DÍA 1)

El pasado lunes dimos la bienvenida al centro francés “Sainte Famille” procedente de Amiens (Francia) dentro del programa Erasmus+. Después del desayuno y entrega de bolsas regalo de nuestra localidad, estudiantes españoles y franceses disfrutaron de una bonita jornada de actividades. Para empezar, nuestro alumnado realizó una exposición oral sobre Almuñécar, nuestro instituto y principales costumbres de la cultura española. Acto seguido, el grupo participó en un intercambio lingüístico en francés-español y tuvo la oportunidad de debatir sobre temáticas relacionadas con la música, las redes sociales o los viajes en ambos idiomas. Finalmente, observaron las clases de inglés y matemáticas con el fin de conocer otras metodologías de enseñanza-aprendizaje. 

Durante la tarde, profesores y alumnos visitaron los Acueductos Romanos conociendo así la importancia vital que tuvieron en la antigüedad. Para finalizar el día, disfrutaron de las vistas panorámicas desde el Peñón del Santo y de una agradable caminata por el paseo marítimo. 

ERASMUS EXCHANGE AMIENS – ALMUÑÉCAR (DAY 1)

Last Monday, we welcomed the French school “Sainte Famille” from Amiens (France) as part of the Erasmus+ programme. After breakfast and the delivery of gift bags from our town, the Spanish and French students enjoyed a lovely day of activities. To begin with, our pupils gave a presentation on Almuñécar, our school and the main customs of Spanish culture. The group then took part in a French–Spanish language exchange and had the opportunity to discuss topics such as music, social media and travel in both languages. Finally, they observed English and maths lessons to learn about different teaching and learning methods.

In the afternoon, teachers and pupils visited the Roman aqueducts, learning about the vital importance they held in ancient times. To round off the day, they enjoyed the panoramic views from the Peñón del Santo and a pleasant stroll along the seafront promenade.

26th September: Celebrating Languages, Celebrating Europe!

We celebrate the European Day of Languages on the 26th of September. It is a day dedicated to promoting language learning, cultural diversity and communication between people from different countries.

Our students took part in a range of fun and creative activities. 1º ESO students designed colourful football shirts representing different European countries, using their flags and languages. By writing the message “We are the best” in different European languages, they learnt that the same   idea can be expressed in many different ways.

Meanwhile, the rest of the ESO students explored the fascinating world of the English language. They worked with English idioms and discovered some of the differences between British and American English, from vocabulary and expressions to everyday usage.

These activities showed our students that learning a language is not only about grammar and vocabulary. It is also about discovering new cultures and understanding different ways of communicating. Speaking different languages will allow them to travel, to work abroad, to become citizens of the world.

Del 2 al 6 de septiembre, Almuñécar volvió a convertirse en escenario de la cultura clásica con la celebración del XVIII Festival de Teatro Grecolatino «Sexi Firmum Iulium», una cita ya consolidada en el calendario cultural del municipio.

Bajo la coordinación de nuestro querido compañero Antonio Cantudo, profesor de Latín del IES Antigua Sexi ,el festival alcanzó este año su decimoctava edición, manteniendo vivo su propósito de acercar el teatro grecolatino al público y de poner en valor un legado cultural que, siglos después, continúa plenamente vigente.

SPORT AND WELLNESS 3º ESO

As part of the Bilingual programme, and just before the Summer holidays, the 3º ESO students carried out a few activities related to “Sport and wellness”.

 In PE they had a yoga class that helped them to reduce their anxiety just before the final exams. A yoga professional taught them some basic yoga poses which they could use whenever they feel stressed.

In English they recorded some interviews where some of the students pretended to be sports people and some others were the interviewers. All the questions were about sport, health, food and nutrition. The aim of the interview was to make them aware of the benefits of sport and the importance of healthy food.

In Lengua y Literatura they worked on some healthy recipes which were displayed on a poster and they recorded a video explaining them. Some of these videos plus the interviews in English were shown to 3º ESO in the library during one of the breaks.

In French, each student chose a sport and created a poster with information that included different aspects about the sport chosen: history, main rules, advantages and disadvantages, famous players…They also added a QR code to each poster which allowed to listen to 30 seconds audio which summarized the information.

To complete this healthy Learning Situation, the the Art students and their teacher painted a superb scene on one of the walls of the basketball pitch: “Sport and diversity”.
